The healthy palace workers try to determine the cause of the virus or disease. Court Lady Han-sg tells the kitchen maids to get rid of all the cooked food and start over. Geum-Young suggests to Court Lady Choi to hire a food doctor.
Jae-Jo Sang Gong pushes Right Prime Minister Oh to name the new Royal Kitchen leader since Court Lady Jung is gone. The head guard insists they should wait till Jung returns first. Head Court Lady names Choi the interim Royal Kitchen head. Court Lady Choi gathers the kitchen maids and orders Court Lady Han and Jang-Geum to go to Peace Hall, where foreign guests are welcomed. Court Lady Han and Jang-Geum leave for Peace Hall. Yun-Saeng begs to take her with them. Choi tells Yun-Saeng they’re not going for fun but Yun-Saeng worries that they’ll never return. Court Lady Choi tells her to stay and not worry.
Min Jung Ho carries out the order to filter away anyone who has symptoms of illness.Kang Deok Gu and his wife arrive. They exchange greetings with Min. Then Court Lady Han and Jang-Geum arrive. Han asks Deok Gu if he could go see Court Lady Jung to check if she’s really ill with the disease and the severity of her illness. Deok Gu tries to get out of it since he doesn’t want to go where all the sick ppl are kept but his wife says he can do it if Han pays her.
Min sees Jang-Geum and while Han steps away to talk with the Deuk Gu. Min asks Jang-Geum where she’s going. Jang-Geum tells Min Jung-Ho she’s been transferred to Peace Hall for the time being. Min says she has a difficult task and shows empathy for her. Geum-Young walks by as she goes to gather cooking materials. Geum-Young is upset by Jang-Geum talking to Min again.
Later, Min runs into Geum-Young. Min asks Geum-Young for status on Royal Kitchen but Geum-Young says it’s rude to ask about business only during such time of crisis and shows she’s angry that Min doesn’t care about her well-being. Min apologizes but Geum-Young walks away.
Right Prime Minister Oh tells Choi Pan Sul that he didn’t expect the Jung’s matter to be resolved so easily. Then Oh tells Choi Pan Sul that he may have to go Jeju-Island. Choi Pan Sul states he was planning on going there anyway to work on new money-making deals. Oh shows his satisfaction in Choi Pan Sul’s quick thinking.
Duk Gu’s wife forces Duk Gu to visit Court Lady Jung. Jung tells him to go inside her room to talk. Duk Gu says he’ll stay outside but Jung insists on him going inside. Duk Gu asks the nurse for a mask and goes inside. Duk Gu informs Jung the news of Han and Jang-Geum transferred to ‘Grand Peace Hall’. Jung gives a letter to Duk Gu for Han. After Duk Gu leaves Jung looks at the cook recipe book she took from Court Lady Choi’s closet.
Court Lady Han receives the letter and tells Jang-Geum that Jung is not disease-stricken but she wants Han and Jang-Geum to continue following orders as if nothing’s going on.
Oh is entertaining the visiting general from Ming Dynasty in the Grand Peace House. Han cooks up a light greaseless healthy food for the ambassador who is tired from traveling. The ambassador and Right Prime Minister Oh is offended by the simple food and refuses to eat. han-sg states during this disease time and after a tiring trip it’s not good to eat greasy food. The ambassador is unimpressed and Oh gets his men to take Han away. Jang-Geum comes in to beg the Ming general to try the food and states Court Lady Han prepared the food with his health in mind. Right Prime Minister Oh gets angry that a mere maid is telling the ranked officers what to do. The Ming general asks Jang-Geum if she will guarantee the beneficial results with her life. Jang-Geum indicates yes. The Ming general tells Jang-Geum he’ll try the food for 5 days like what she asked for, and ask Jang Geum to prepare the meals herself.
That night, Jang-Geum remembers her mother’s last words pleading her to find a way to survive even without the guidance of her father and mother.
Next day Jang-Geum starts cooking for the Ming Dynasty general and she presents 5 meals to the general one at a time. The general tries everything but says nothing and doesn’t show any sign of content in the food.
Court Lady Choi finds out what happened to Court Lady Han and come to Peace House to take over the cooking duties herself. Choi and Geum-Young come to the kitchen to tell Jang-Geum to leave but Jang-Geum tells Choi to leave instead, saying she will be responsible for the next 5 days of meals. Choi is offended that a maid is ordering her around but Geum-Young persuades Choi to leave.
Court Lady Choi tells Oh not to worry about the Ming general because she will cook up the Manchu-Han Full Feast served in the Royal Palace of the Chinese Emperor.
After the Ming general eats all 5 days of meals Jang-Geum prepared for him, he is then presented with the grand meal that Choi prepared. The general shows signs of content eating the feast. Oh asks the general what should the verdict on Jang-Geum be.
